Malaika Vaz is a teenaged extreme sports’ enthusiast who is a national-level wind-surfer, a certified advanced PADI scuba-diver, horse rider and football player. She came to public attention in 2011, as the only Indian selected to be a part of the ‘Students on Ice’ expedition to Antarctica. As a part of the expedition she accompanied over 70 other international students, scientists, polar experts and explorers to the North Pole to carry out research and exploration.

After squeezing in many sporting feats so early in life, Malaika hopes to charter a course in environmental activism, through cinema, adventure sports’ initiatives and writing. She’s interned with Green Oscar winner Mike Pandey on the docudrama ‘The Return of the Tiger’ and sites the work of Team ‘Sea Shepherd’ and Jane Goodall as inspirations. She has been trained as a recreational pilot at Winipeg aviation academy in Canada in 2013.
